A. Due to safety and security of the pilgrims and the carrying capacity of the mountainous trek, registration in needed if you are planning to visit Amarnath Ji. Only 15,000 pilgrims are allowed to undertake Yatra every day for Shri Amarnath Yatra. This implies that Pahalgam-Chandanwari Trek and Sonamarg-Baltal Trek would each be allowed to have 7500 Registrations every day. To regulate this SASB has made it mandatory for all the pilgrims to register well before undertaking the Amarnath Yatra.

A. Yes, Medically fit people above 13 year and below 75 year are allowed for Amarnath Yatra. Person below the age of 13 years or above the age of 75 years are not allowed. Also lady with more than six week’s pregnancy is not allowed to register for the Yatra.

A. Yes, Registration fee is very nominal. If person application for Registration is in order, then applicant would be required to make a payment of Rs.50/- per Yatri/ Yatra Permit. Registration fee is annouce by Amarnath shrine board every year.

A. One can get registration at the designated Bank Branches identified by SASB throughout India. Can get information from Amarnath Shrine board. If you are booking package then Travel agent and tour operator will do registration for You.

A. The high altitude trek to the Holy Cave involves exposure to extreme cold, high altitude and reduced air pressure and oxygen level. It is a tough yatra, Under these conditions only physically fit people are advised to apply for the Yatra Registration and this is the reason a Compulsory Health Certificates (CHC) is mandatory for each applicant. The Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) format made by SASB is also available online. Also note that the prescribed CHC should have been issue between a particular period by the Authorized Doctor/ Medical Institution. CHC's issued before that period would not be valid for Shri Amarnath Yatra.

A. Amarnath can be reach by two way. Pilgrims reach Amarnath by trek from Baltal and Pahalgam. Also they reach by Helicopter from Baltal and Pahalgam. However, Pilgrims also hire services of pony and palki to avoid trek. Baltal and Pahalgam is Starting point of Amarnath Yatra. Nearest Railway Station is Jammu and Airport Is Srinagar. Route Plan :-- Route plan to reach Amarnath via Baltal from Srinagar -- Srinagar – Sonmarg – Baltal (By road) – Amarnath Cave (by Trek from Baltal –14 Km one side) Route plan to reach Amarnath via Pahalgam from Jammu -- Jammu – Anantnag – Pahalgam – Chandanwari (By Road) – Pissu Top – Sheshnag – Panchtarni – Holy Amarnath Cave (By trek from Chandanwari –38 Km one side). Route plan to reach Amarnath via Pahalgam from Srinagar -- Srinagar – Pahalgam – Chandanwari (By Road) – Pissu Top – Sheshnag – Panchtarni -- Amarnath Cave (By trek from Chandanwari –38 Km one side). Route plan to reach Amarnath via Baltal from Jammu -- Jammu - Srinagar – Sonmarg – Baltal (By road) – Amarnath Cave (by Trek from Baltal –14 Km one side). To Sum up, you can reach Jammu or Srinagar by train or fight and from there you can reach to Baltal and Pahalgam by Road. So, you can start your trek to Amarnath or can avail services of Helicopter, Pony or Palki.
